The journal of chemical pharmaceutical research, accredited by  scimago website for the classification of journals, published a scientific research conducted in the laboratory of germs and chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy at ASPU Lattakia  branch , entitled antimicrobial activity of extracts of lemon peels in glass.

He research was conducted by Dr. Reem Harfoosh, Dr. Faten Shouman,  Hadeel  Janoudi , Alaa Hamami and Walaa al- Muhammad.

The aim of the research is to evaluate the antibacterial properties of lemon peels in several pathogenic strains.

The team prepared ethanol, methanol and acetone extracts from lemon peels. After steaming , the team applied the extracts to five bacterial strains by transplanting in Muller Hinton medium.

The team concluded that lemon peel extracts are more effective against gram-positive bacteria, so they can be used as a food preservative and in cosmetic dermatological products to inhibit bacterial growth on the skin surface.

The publication of scientific research adds a scientific value doe ASPU  and it is important to teach students the method of scientific research and how to conduct experimental laboratory research , and write scientific articles and publish them in specialized scientific journals.
