Under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education, ASPU in cooperation with Damascus University held a scientific event under the title “ your heart safety “ campaign , marking the World Heart Day at the University headquarters in Baramkeh.
ASPU Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Hussam eddine al-Shibli, gave a lecture on measures and procedures necessary to protect the heart and prevent cardiovascular risk.
al-Shibli talked about the most common ways to protect the heart, which is to maintain a healthy diet, eat foods rich in potassium, vegetables and unsalted fish, reduce stress and manage it with calm music and meditation.
Dr. Ahmed Rashid al-Saadi ‘s lecture focused on arterial hypertension and its relationship with heart disease, pointing to the need to regularly measure the pressure and the use of natural remedies and antihypertensive drugs constantly and avoid weight gain to maintain heart health.
Dr. Barakat Shaheen devoted his lecture to talk about the relationship between diabetes and heart disease, saying that the two diseases are two sides of the same coin explaining the measures that should be followed by diabetics to avoid complications of the disease on the heart that may lead to death.
As for antioxidants and their relationship to heart disease, Dr. Talal Muhalla stressed the need to protect the body by taking antioxidants regularly to avoid heart disease.
Modern therapeutic mechanisms for the treatment of heart failure are the part that Dr. Ahmed al Abed chose to talk about, pointing to the role of these drugs in reducing mortality, which is the most important hormone therapy for heart failure.
On the other hand, Asia company for Pharmaceutical Industries, the sponsor of the Scientific Day, presented honorary shields to the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, ASPU , the National Union of Syrian Students at the University and the lecturers who enriched the Scientific Day with their lectures.
