Under the patronage of Dr. Yasser Houria ASPU Faculty of Informatics Engineering held a friendly Programming competition with the participation of the private universities , including "Syrian, Arab International and Yarmouk universities. “
The competition was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Ali Al-Jassem, representing the President of the University, Dr. George Karaz, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Dr. Zuhair Sandouk , Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, University of Damascus, and Dr. Mohamed Iyad al-Khayyat, dean of the faculty of informatics engineering at University of Damascus, Dr. Khalid Yazbek, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering at the Arab International University, and deans of the faculties, arbitrators, team coaches and students participating in the competition from different universities.
The competition was opened with a minute of silence in honor of the country’s martyrs followed by the national anthem of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Two films were shown , one about ASPU and the other explains to the attendees about the programming competition and its organization.
Dr. Ali Al-Jassem stressed the important role of informatics in pushing the wheel of education and knowledge in various sciences towards new horizons and modern methods of acquiring knowledge, and benefiting from them in different ways and circumstances.
For his part, Dr. George Karaz spoke about the goal of the competition in preparing the teams participating in the actual competition in July, so as to provide support in the training and benefit from their experience and refined their experience in a competitive atmosphere similar to the atmosphere of the national competition, wishing all the contestants success in this experience.
The ASPU team won third place out of 12 participating teams by solving 7 software issues.
