ASPU Scientific Research Council Holds First Session for academic year 2022/2023

Chaired by its President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, and in the presence of Dr. Khaled Al-Homsi - Vice President of the Scientific Research Council, and the Vice-Deans for Scientific Research Affairs in Damascus, and with the participation of the Vice-Deans for Scientific Research from the University’s branch in Lattakia, the Scientific Research Council held its first session for the academic year 2022/2023 via the Zoom platform,.

University president welcomed the attendees, wishing that this year would be distinguished in all its scientific matters and research, and that the university’s ranking would rise to the best ranks locally, and at the regional and international levels, calling for the need to make all efforts and capabilities to achieve this goal.

Dr. Al-Ashkar discussed the agenda with the members of the Council in terms of the reality of scientific research at ASPU as from its founding to date, in addition to the ranking of the university according to the global webometrics classification at the local, regional and international levels.

Worthy mentioning that ASPU was ranked /31/ in 2019 in the Arab world and has become /15/ in 2022 and ranked /25709/ for 2019 globally and ranked /15065/ in 2022.

Also discussed were the reality of scientific research and the development of publishing at the university and a comparison of the faculties’ production of scientific research, publications and university books.

ASPU President stressed commitment to scientific research standards that must be followed to obtain Google Scholar endorsement and classification of journals, methods, means and criteria for sending scientific research documents, noting the great tasks stated by the Council for the 2022/2023 to raise the level of the university at all levels, in addition to defining the goals and tasks of research. He stressed that all faculties should present their research plans in the next session for discussion and approval.

Concluding the meeting, the President of the University thanked the attendees for their distinguished follow-up to their work and wished that all efforts would be made to provide what is best for students and for science and scientific research, hoping that ASPU development and ranking in the next meeting will be significantly tangible.
