ASPU President Dr. Yasser Hourieh, addressed  a message to the university students via the website about developments in the teaching process at the university resulting from Corona pandemic and the university's plan to overcome the crisis and maintain quality education.

The message reads as follows:

Sons, students of ASPU in all faculties in Damascus, and Latakia campuses, I extend to you on behalf of ASPU deans of faculties and  professors and my own behalf best wishes for your good health.

As you know, we are experiencing an exceptional situation that requires us to take every precautionary measure in dealing with the Corona pandemic.

Our government has made wise decisions that guarantee the safety of our dear people and students in particular. This requires us all to deal with reality. Therefore, all ASPU professors and in all faculties have uploaded the scientific materials of the curricula subjects on the university’s website, to become available to all students.

This is a great achievement for the university and the students, alike. We hope you take advantage of the subjects published on the website, to study them carefully and communicate with the heads of departments or professors via the web to answer your questions and inquiries. We, hereby stress the need to invest the remaining time until returning to regular work, God willing, after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

According to the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education, lectures will be repeated but extensively in proportion to the available time period and we plan to take advantage of all days of the week (seven days) to compensate for the educational loss including the return of all practical sessions of all subjects.   ASPU Council will amend the university calendar according to the available time and we will inform you of the exams dates, after determining them in agreement with you through your representatives, and a regular or intensive summer semester will also be available to you.

We will, hopefully overcome this pandemic and our educational and social life will return to normal.

I thank ASPU deans of faculties, their deputies, heads of departments, and members of the teaching staff for their efforts to make curricula subjects available and for following -up their students learning process.

We extend best wishes for you, awaiting your return back to university learning seats.

ASPU president

Dr. Yasser Hourieh
