ASPU Scientific Research Council held a meeting, in the presence of the council chairman Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, deputy chairman of the Scientific Research council Dr. Khaled al-Homsi , scientific representatives of the university's faculties in Damascus and Lattakia, and the representative of the university branch of the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS) , at Al-Baramkeh campus .

In an inaugural speech, Dr. Al-Ashkar stressed  the importance of scientific research in raising the level of the university and its evaluation and the importance of research composed by faculty  teaching staff members, indicating solid  support for scientific research, and  publication of scientific research in local and international journals.

Members of the council discussed several key issues, including establishing a portal for scientific research on the university’s official website, setting up a research plan for each faculty for the 2020-2021 academic year, registering  faculty members accounts on the scientific researcher at ASPU and ways of uploading scientific research  in order to be accepted by the scientific researcher.
