ASPU 1st International Dental Conference Continues Deliberations

ASPU  1st  international dental conference held at the Al-Assad Public Library in Damascus has continued  its activities for the second day, under the patronage Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the supervision of ASPU President  Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar.

 Dr. Paul Puolos lecture entitled “Partial Moving Devices (Are They Still Effective?)”, was followed by a lecture by Dr. Nazem Asaad under the title “Mobile Devices over Dental Implants”.

Dr. Edmond Koues gave a lecture entitled “Endodontic Treatment and Removal of Canal Fillings with Rotary Files”, followed by a lecture by Dr. Othman Al-Ani entitled “Various methods of closing the apex”.

Dr. Abdel-Rahman Tawfiq's lecture, it was entitled "Restoration of the Deep Edges of Worn Teeth (Techniques and Solutions)", while Dr. Alexander Khairallah spoke in his lecture entitled "3D Imaging as a New Era in Dentistry."

Dr. George Abi Khalil gave a lecture entitled "Tumors and dental cysts in the jaws", and Dr. Yasser Hindi gave a lecture entitled "Aesthetic solutions to the problems of implantation in the anterior area."

The conference was concluded with a lecture by Dr. Louai Baddin, entitled "The limits of connecting teeth with implants and hybrid devices in dental implants."

The conference activities included several training courses and workshops that discussed modern scientific methods in the field of dentistry. The conference importance lies in the fact that it has given students the opportunity to learn the latest technology and medical equipment, and to be acquainted with latest international methods used, that were positively reflected at the level of students in Syrian universities. Moreover, the conferences has encouraged scientific and research efforts and keeps pace with the continuous medical development in this field.

Moreover, the conference falls in the course of ASPU belief on the importance of developing scientific research and innovation, and that shedding light on developments in dentistry would raise the level of education and skills of its students.

During the conference, honorary shields were presented to all the lecturers, as means to express the university's gratitude for their efforts and for sharing their expertise and information with the attending students.
