ASPU workshop on the International Humanitarian Law

Under the patronage of ASPU  President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, the Faculty of International and Diplomatic Relations in cooperation with the university branch of the National Union of Syrian Students  (NUSS)  held a workshop  under the title "Introducing the  International Humanitarian Law” , at al-Tal premises

The workshop was attended by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Syrian National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and the Ministry of Higher Education, besides deans of the university faculties, professors, and interested students and attendees.

Participants in the workshop started with a minute of silence for the souls of our martyrs, followed by the Syrian national anthem.

In his speech, Dr. al-Ashkar welcomed Mr. Stijn Houben, Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Dr. Amal Yazigi, representative of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Yasser Kelzi, representative of the Syrian National Committee, and the attendees. He commended the humanitarian role played by the International Red Cross in all fields, thanking the Faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy for its efforts to convene the workshop, expressing best wishes to attain obtain desired benefit of convening the workshop.

He extended thanks to the attendees and the parties that cooperated to the success of the workshop, wishing a full recovery for the wounded and mercy for our martyrs. He also thanked the Syrian Arab Army for its sacrifices in defending the country and voiced loyalty and appreciation for President al-Assad’s leadership.

In their speeches, representatives of the participating parties praised ASPU, represented by its president and the dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy, Dr. Hussein Makled, for their efforts carry out the workshop and provide all facilities to the participants, so as to introduce the activities of the committee in all fields.
