ASPU Hosts “International Al-Quds Day” Book Signing Ceremony

Under the patronage of ASPU President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, the Arab Writers Union and the Ashaam Land Foundation, the book entitled (International Quds Day) was launched to raise awareness for the nation and the demise of the Zionist entity. The book was prepared by Dr. Wael Al-Imam, and the ceremony was held at the university’s headquarters in Baramkeh.

In an inaugural speech, Dr. Al-Ashqar, welcomed the attendees and stressed that Jerusalem was and still is the  axis of resistance and that it is our duty to shed light on the aggression practiced by the Zionist entity on the Palestinian territories  and its people, stressing the need to write and document that Palestine is greater than mere words, that Jerusalem exists and the Zionist occupier will surely vanish, and that Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, will remain to support the Palestinian cause.

Dr. Wael Al-Imam talked about his goal behind writing the book and thanked those who participated in its production, noting that the Palestinian issue is a just cause because the Palestinian people are plundered and every inch of their land continues to be attacked, thereby the Palestinian cause is a moral and humanitarian issue.

Dr. Thababi , from Iran , stressed that the culture of resistance must remain dominant, and therefore we must root it and preserve its continuity, noting that the resistant person is the one who takes part in wars and offers his soul for the axis of resistance, and that an educated person is that the one  who fights through his writings, and that book and culture have a major role in the future of the young people  of the axis of resistance.

Head of the Arab Writers Union (AWU)  Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, in turn, spoke about the implications and importance of disseminating  the culture of resistance in ASPU in order to increase students’ awareness and spread the ideology of resistance in the new generation, since the Palestinian cause is truely the right compass and it remains present in the time of normalization.

Dr. Asad Elahi from Iran noted importance of the International Quds Day and the extent of our need for this day, describing the book as an important step in educating Arab nations and peoples.

The media professor, Lamis Odeh, highlighted the importance of educating the Islamic nation and expanding its perceptions to support the Palestinian cause to uproot the thorns of occupation from the Palestinian territories, and that the International Quds Day is not an ordinary day in the calendar of the resistance, but rather the compass of the calendar.

The ceremony was concluded by a speech from Mr. Basil Al-Dunia, Executive Director of Ard Al-Shaam Foundation, who thanked the audience and everyone who contributed to the production of the book.

The signing ceremony was attended by members of the Damascus branch leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, and Dr.  Basil Al-Dunia, Dr. Asad Elahi from Iran, Dr. Hassan Hassan, several writers and men of letters , army and police officers, and men of religion
