ASPU President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, who is also Chairman of the Scientific Research Council, has presided over a meeting for the council.  Several council members from Lattakia faculties have participated in the meeting via Zoom platform.

The attendees listened  to a detailed presentation on the university's current ranking according to the Webometrics global ranking locally and globally, besides a  global ranking comparison  between  certain  private universities over two and a half years, with examples of research that fulfilled the conditions and did not.

Dr.  Al-Ashkar discussed with the council members the research reality of the faculties and number of faculty members’ pages on Google Scholar /75/ pages. He stressed the criteria for publishing scientific research that must be followed to obtain Google Scholar authentication, noting university’s openness to any draft agreement or memoranda of understanding that benefits the university and its students.
