ASPU lecture: Cybercrime in the provisions of Law No. 20 of 2022

Under the patronage of ASPU President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, the Faculty of Law, in cooperation with the university branch the NUSS, a lecture was made by Dr. Issa Al-Makhoul, Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Damascus and ASPU, who is also member of the University’s Board of Trustees, entitled “Cybercrimes in the provisions of Law No. 20 of 2022”.

The lecture was attended by Dr. Rania Al-Zerir, Vice President for Administrative and Student Affairs, Dr. Ammar Al-Terkawi, Dean of the faculty Dr. Badi’ Misto, Secretary of the Baath Party branch at the University, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zeer, who supervises the medical points at the university’s headquarters, and several deans of faculties and administrative staff and the representative of the university NUSS branch.

Dr. -Makhoul presented the most important /21 informatics crimes stipulated in the law, most notably bypassing illegal entry, occupying a website name, in addition to impersonating a personal account, designing, promoting or using malicious software, sending unwanted messages, and information fraud, as well as the violation of privacy, crimes related to the electronic card, defamation, electronic slander and undermining the prestige of the state.

Worthy mentioning, Law No. 20 of 2022 came into force on 05/18/2022.

The lecturer also talked about penalties imposed on these crimes, whether with regard to imprisonment or fines.

Then, the lecturer answered related questions and inquiries put by the attendees.
