Impact of the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis on the Situation in the Middle East

Attended by ASPU President  Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, and in cooperation with the university branch of the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS) , the faculty of international and diplomatic relations ,director of the Middle East Institute for Economic and Political Studies in Romania - Bucharest, Mr. Felvius Capa Maria, made a lecture entitled “The Impact of the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis on the Situation in the East Middle".

Dr. Hussein Makled welcomed the attendees including Dr. Bassam Abu Abdullah, director of the Party qualification institute, former diplomat Monica Sriogi, Vice President of the Middle East Institute for Economic and Political Studies, Dr. Nizar Jazan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International and Diplomatic Relations, and several university deans and their deputies and the administrative staff.

Mr. Felvius gave an overview of the purpose of the lecture, noting that since 2014, the Ukrainian crisis has become a full-fledged global conflict between the Russian Federation and the West, and this has affected the emerging balance between two opposite directions.

He continued that the Ukrainian conflict has three interconnected dimensions: global, regional and local, and he talked about the impact of the crisis on Russian relations, the European Union and the countries of the Middle East, the effects of the current crisis, and future results and expectations
