ASPU Seminar: "Food Security in Syria and Future Prospects"

Under the patronage of  ASPU President  Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, and in cooperation with the university branch of the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS)  the Faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy held a seminar  for the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Muhammad Hassan Qatana, entitled "Food Security in Syria and Future Prospects".

The minister gave an overview of the purpose of the lecture, and its main themes, including basic concepts pertinent to food security, the role of agriculture in the global and national economy, the status of certain agricultural commodities in Syria compared to the Arab world, the reality of food security in Syria, challenges facing attaining food security, and agricultural policies and strategies in the field of food security in Syria.

 The minister answered the questions and inquiries put by the students.

Then, the minister accompanied by the Vice President of the University for Administrative and Student Affairs, and deans of the faculties, toured the university medical faculties in al-Tal premises and he was briefed on the facilities they provide for the teaching process.

He noted the possibility of maintaining joint cooperation between the Ministry and ASPU in common issues of bilateral interests.

At the end of the meeting, minister Qatana thanked ASPU sides concerned for their kind welcome and hospitality, wishing them continued success.
