ASPU , in cooperation with the Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior, held a traffic awareness seminar entitled “Your Safety” at the university’s amphitheater attended by Dr. Muhammad Al-Zoubi, director of cases and Inspection department, Jihad al-Saadi, director of traffic department, Khaled al-Khatib, head of the Damascus traffic branch,  Abdul-Jawad Awad, head of the Damascus countryside traffic branch, members of the Traffic Media Committee, several traffic police officers and members, ,  university deans of faculties and directors, Majd al-Hamad, head of ASPU, NUSS branch , and Dr. Bade  Misto, secretary of the party branch at the university.

In an opening speech, Mr. Jihad Adel al-Saadi, noted the great services provided by the traffic facility as one of the mainstays for the development, progress and prosperity of any society, noting that misuse of this facility constitutes a continuous human and material hemorrhage and a waste of energies and potentials without justification.

He said that the traffic police are making strenuous efforts around the clock and they cannot be held responsible for traffic accidents, because it is impossible in any country in the world to put a traffic policeman in every street and intersection.

He noted the most important causes of traffic accidents and the measures to be taken to reduce traffic accidents, noting added that traffic awareness is to make all road users, drivers and pedestrians, aware and fully convinced of the rules, etiquette and traffic regulations that guarantee their safety if they act and use the road properly in accordance with these ethics and regulations and rules.

He concluded by saying: Let our leader, President Bashar al-Assad, be the example when he said:

"We must respect the law, for it preserves the dignity of the citizen by the state and the state's dignity by the citizen, and it guarantees our freedom as well as the freedom of others."

ASPU President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, presented Brig. Jihad Al-Saadi, with an honorary shield and a certificate of appreciation. He also presented Brig.  Khaled Al-Khatib, and Brig Abdul-Jawad Awad, with certificates of appreciation and honor for their efforts.
