ASPU Students International Relations & Diplomacy Students Visit People’s Assembly

Under the patronage of ASPU President  Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, and the supervision of Dr. Hussein Mukled,  faculty dean the faculty students  have visited  to the People's Assembly.

Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the People's Assembly, and members of the assembly’s office met with the visiting students, in the presence of Dr. Mukled.

Mr. Sabbagh  expressed pleasure to meet the students, wishing them success in their studies, stressing key role in the near future in contributing to the process of reconstruction and construction of a new, Syria under the wise, courageous and insightful leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.

He gave the students a detailed explanation about the nature of the work of the People’s Assembly, the mechanism for approving bills and the stages of passage of bills through its 17th specialized committees dealing with all aspects of political, legislative, economic and social life.

The  People’s Assembly President spoke about the Arab Brotherhood and friendship committees,  namely the  28 foreign committees that are working to develop parliamentary relations between the People’s Assembly in the Syrian Arab Republic and the councils and parliaments of brotherly and friendly countries with the aim  to achieve mutual interests, pointing to the People’s Assembly’s participation in various Arab, regional and international parliamentary events, activities and conferences, which contributes to have  Syria’s voice heard  in all forums.

He noted the diversity and multiplicity of competencies and distinction of the Syrian parliamentarians, including university professors, judges, doctors, engineers, workers, farmers, artists, youth and many other specializations who exercise their rights and duties in accordance with the constitution and the assembly’s constituent law.

For his part, Dr.  Mukled expressed thanks to the Speaker and members of the People's Assembly for providing the opportunity to attend the discussion of draft laws, pointing out that it is a wonderful experience that the students benefit from in understanding the mechanism of approving laws and enriching their theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge that will give them additional information in their work.

The students had attended the People’s assembly session from the balcony designated for visitors.
