Dear Students, Esteemed Visitors,
The College of Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, goes by many names, but its essence remains unified. We could call it the "Engineering of the Era" or the "Pioneer of Engineering Sciences" because of its profound connection to various fields of science. All names ultimately refer to "The College of Information Engineering," a science that combines engineering and technology to develop innovative solutions across all areas of life.
The College of Information Engineering is one of the newest engineering colleges in the country and has already contributed qualified graduates to support the nation's digital progress. For this reason, Al-Sham Private University has established the College of Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, to supply the community with qualified engineering professionals who contribute to the country's technical and scientific advancement. We are now embarking on a new academic year with a goal to graduate engineers from the Department of Information Engineering.
Our College of Engineering – Department of Information Engineering at Al-Sham Private University is distinguished by its highly qualified faculty who keep up with the latest scientific advancements, an experienced technical staff that supports both teaching and application, and an active administrative team that maintains excellent communication with the students.
Every year, the college attracts outstanding, hardworking, and dedicated students from high schools who are eager to pursue their education and actively shape the future development of the country. They are part of the digital transformation and scientific research journey by engaging in practical research projects alongside our teaching staff.
Currently, the college supports three main specializations in information engineering:
These specializations share a core set of courses required by the department, equipping students with the essential knowledge and skills to continue in their fields. However, they differ in elective courses tailored to each specialty. Each specialization has specific objectives that align with the broader goals of the college, including:
Preparing information engineering professionals with a high level of knowledge in their fields, capable of keeping up with technological and scientific advancements to meet the demands of the local community and markets, thereby contributing to development and production in the information technology sector.
Contributing to various scientific research efforts that advance scientific and technical knowledge in information engineering, as well as preparing researchers to find solutions to diverse local and global issues.
Contributing to academic literature and research publications, including translated materials that support educational development, promote the use of Arabic in science, and aim to unify scientific terminology, while emphasizing proficiency in foreign languages, especially English, which is the predominant language in information technology.
Providing ongoing training and development courses across the college's three specializations.
Fostering balanced personal development for students in scientific, political, and social areas, enhancing their communication skills, increasing their awareness of national and regional values, and instilling a passion for contributing to societal progress. The college also strives to boost students' competitiveness with their peers and in the job market, while promoting national, social, and cultural activities.
Guiding students towards selecting meaningful activities and offering opportunities for participation in local, Arab, and international courses and competitions.
Connecting the college and its students with local and Arab academic institutions and organizing scientific conferences to raise awareness, document knowledge, and share it with others in a research-based manner.
Fostering active engagement between the college, its staff, and students with the local community and organizations to enhance services and keep pace with digital developments locally and in the Arab region.
An information engineer must have fundamental engineering knowledge, the skills for analysis and synthesis, the ability to generate solutions, and the capacity for innovation, equipped with the necessary theoretical and practical understanding. The college has graduated many distinguished engineers working in local, Arab, and international companies, bringing pride to the university with their engineering skills that stand out among graduates from other institutions.
As Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Sham Private University, I extend a few pieces of advice to my students, aiming to help them become engineers who uphold the name of their college and university throughout their lives, just as a name remains with its owner:
In conclusion, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the President of Al-Sham Private University for his continued efforts to advance the university's academic standing locally and regionally, and for his support in achieving the college’s goals in every possible way to graduate a distinguished cadre of professionals who contribute to the digital transformation and offer technical solutions across the public and private sectors alike.
