ASPU President Dr. Sharif Al-Ashkar, held a meeting at Lattakia faculties, attended by faculties director and deans, representatives of the Baath Party and the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS), and concerned university directors.
In his visit to the sheltering center which was opened at Lattakia faculties headquarters, Dr. al-Ashkar listened to explanations on the mechanism of dealing with the affected families, and means of providing them with necessary services and needs, noting coordination between both the Baath party and NUSS cadres to eliminate difficulties, and for purchasing daily needs for the affected families, including foodstuffs, detergents, sterilizers, and materials for children with medical care provided by doctors and pharmacists.
Party official Qais al-Kafri, said that since the early hours of the disastrous earthquake the university premises were opened for people whose homes were damaged, and more than 700 people have been accommodated at the center.
University NUSS branch Representative Majd Al-Hamad, noted the efforts made by students blood donation and the collected in-kind donations, including food, medical, and clothes
Members of the affected families expressed happiness over the efforts made by ASPU of great care and attention.
Noteworthy, several student, humanitarian, local community activists provided great aid to ASPU shelter center in Lattakia, a matter which contributed to alleviating the sufferings of affected citizens.
