Pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory:

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory is one of the most important laboratories in the College of Pharmacy, where practical courses of Pharmaceutical Chemistry are taught.

The pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory contains a set of tools: burettes, bilayers, alarens, separating funnels, etc. (and equipment) (electric water baths, electric heaters equipped with magnetic motors, and a sensitive balance in three decimal places that allow the student to perform work related to characterizing the chemical structure, determining the physical and chemical properties, and conducting physical and chemical tests. Qualitative detection and quantitative assay of a group of pharmaceutical and drug substances belonging to different therapeutic groups. The pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory integrates with other related laboratories, allowing for the exchange of experiences and cooperation in the field of equipment, especially the spectrophotometer in the visible and ultraviolet fields (VIS-UV), the spectrophotometer in the infrared field (IR-FT), and the acidity meter. (meter pH), and a Cabinet UV (Camag) for showing separated spots on TLC thin layer chromatography plates.

The laboratory serves the following courses:

Pharmaceutical chemistry 1

Pharmaceutical chemistry 2

Advanced Pharmaceutical Chemistry

It is provided  with the following equipment:

  • 4 magnetic mixers (used to heat and mix samples)

  • Sensitive scale (used for weighing materials)

  • water bath (used for heating)

  • Electronic scale (used for weighing small ingredients)

  • Hood puller (to prevent toxic fumes)
